Inclined Planes, Wedges, Screws

My Experiment:

Question:
What takes more Force? Lifting the car or rolling it up an inclined plane?

Hypothesis:
I think lifting the car takes more force.

Supplies:
truck
cutting board
pulley

Procedure:
First I took the pulley and hooked it up to the bumper of the car and I lifted the car up. It took 3.2 Newtons of Force to move it 15 inches. Then I put the car on the incline plane and rolled it up and that was 1.4 Newtons to move it 41 inches.

Conclusion:
I was right.

Work = Force x Distance

Simple machines make work easier because you don't have to use as much force, the distance does the work for you.
